New Orleans

New Orleans is a paradise for photographers. The city is artistic, liberal, open and friendly. While you may not see much “nature” within the city itself, the characters of the French Quarter as well as the architecture of The Garden District and the French Quarter have made this my favourite place to visit.

The elegant scrollwork of the wrought iron balustrades and columns, the long galleries where residents while away the time watching their community, or play music makes the French Quarter magical to me. The characters of the French Quarter are colourful and friendly, were happily willing to pose for photos for me. The street performers and musicians are always around and entertaining to photograph, and with permission, even videotape.

The Garden District has old, ornate cemeteries and graceful manor houses that harken back to older times when the taxation of the house was based on how many doors the house had. The windows are long and open wide enough to exit through.
